A Tactical Training System Based on C2IS-in-the-Loop Simulation

چکیده

The need has become apparent for real time training and simulation tools. Such tools allow for realistic network planning and training of command personnel on real Command and Control Information Systems (C2IS). Real C2IS hardware and software are connected within the simulation loop, where a tactical radio communication infrastructure is modeled on a virtual terrain. Operators of C2IS systems can, by using this system, carry out training, whilst simultaneously evaluating the quality of tactical network planning from the points of view of network throughput, end-to-end delays, radio visibility, etc. In this paper, we proposed the architecture of such training system, based partially on capabilities offered by well-known OPNET Modeller simulation tool and partially on additional tools, which must be developed to enable integration with standard C2IS databases and do evaluate training progress with an expert system. The concept is proven by simple simulation example.
